You have come to the right place, whether you are looking for clamping tools for standard specimens or for special shapes and long or short specimens.
Clamping tools for tensile testing from 0.20 kN – 3,000 kN
Tailored to your requirements
Hard or short specimens often slip during material testing or tear in the fixture. You may also have a situation where the specimen is too small overall to be clamped in normal tools. Or you want to test samples with special geometric shapes or made of a mix of materials, such as technical textiles. You have the challenge of the material being crushed, breaking off or the surface layer being pulled away from the core.
Regardless of whether you are looking for a standard tool or do not yet know exactly how to test your product in accordance with standards – let’s get talking.
We specialize in finding suitable solutions for these issues. We can configure an optimum clamping tool for tensile testing for you from a wide range of systems that have already been developed and designed. Sometimes a standard system is not enough, which is why we also support you in creating individual solutions.
Our clamping tools are suitable for testing a wide range of materials, including:
- Steel
- Non-ferrous metals
- Plastics
- Glass and carbon fibers
- Technical textiles (geo-textiles)
- Composite materials
Your advantages through Demgen:
- since 1970 Experience in the field of materials testing and toolmaking
- Expert advice and partnership-based support from initial contact to setting up the testing machine
- Design and manufacture of durable clamping tools
- Development of solutions for consistently reliable test results
DEMGEN clamping tools meet the requirements for standard-compliant testing.
We offer solutions for you if you are a manufacturer of products for which the required properties need to be determined and documented. Our high-quality clamping tools are suitable for testing flat and round specimens (wires, strands or flat elements) of a wide range of materials.
Hydraulic clamping tools
Suitable for the testing of:
- Textiles
- Geo textiles
- Belts and tapes
- Grid structures
- Metallic samples
Our hydraulic clamping tools are primarily designed for high clamping pressure, while at the same time taking up very little space. The tools can be adjusted in different ways and, if required, equipped with an intelligent control system, e.g. with tension-force controlled hydraulics.
Various combination options
We design and manufacture hydraulic tools on both sides as well as combined versions, e.g. with a hydraulic and mechanical element or in combination with the force reduction cam. Many hydraulic clamping tools are available in modular and compact designs.
Singled-sided hydraulic grips:
Advantages:
- Suitable for curved specimens
- Can be gripped eccentrically
- More affordable due to smaller hydraulic power pack
Double-sided hydraulic grips:
Advantages:
- Symmetrical gripping system
- Also suitable for automated systems with robotic placement
* Compact grips for testing steel specimens with compression forces of 2,000 kN
Why chose modular grips?
The modularly designed grips consist of a base unit to which the hydraulic or mechanical components are directly attached via flange. This allows you to exchange spare parts more quickly in case of repairs and results in lower repair costs.
Modules are available with or without synchronization control and can be either mechanical or hydraulic.
Modular grips are available in load steps of 20 kN to 1500 kN.
Why chosse compact grips?
Compact grips are smaller and require less space than modular grips.
Compact grips are available in load steps of 50 kN to 2500 kN.
Mechanical grips
Suitable for the testing of:
- Steel
- Carbon and glass fibers
- Plastic
- Paper
With our mechanical clamping tools, we attach great importance to a simple design and easy operation. This makes them more cost-effective and easier to maintain. The performance range is between 0.15 kN for paper samples up to 600 kN for metallic and non-metallic materials.
Various combination options
We offer the option to increase the forces via wedges. Wedge/screw combinations with and without synchronization control are also available, as well as very small tools.
Versions:
- Screw grips
- Wedge screw grips
- Wedge grips
- Pincer grips
Pneumatic grips
Designed for the testing of:
- metallic and nonmetallic materials
- Wires
- Straps
- Yarns
- Twine
- Strings
- Plastics
In the field of pneumatics, DEMGEN clamping tools impress with their simple operation and lightweight design. The products are mainly made of aluminum. The performance range is between 1 kN and 50 kN for metallic and non-metallic materials, e.g. for testing paper, plastics, yarn or tapes. Pneumatic clamping tools can be used in clean or ultra-clean rooms.
Various combination options
You can choose from tools with single-sided or double-sided grips, with or without synchronization control. We recommend integrating a load reduction curve for testing threads or filaments.
Single-sided pneumatic grips:
Advantages:
- Suitable for curved specimens
- Can be gripped eccentrically
- Integrating a load reduction curve prevents the specimen from tearing in the jaws
Double-sided pneumatic grips:
Advantages:
- Symmetrical gripping system
- Also suitable for automated systems with robotic placement
Specimen grips for testing technical textiles
Designed for the testing of:
- Textiles
- Geotextiles
- Belts and straps
- Grid structures
Testing technical textiles can present an additional challenge. The clamping tools must have a high clamping force and must not damage the samples. DEMGEN has developed special expertise in this area and manufactures hydraulic or combined hydraulic-mechanical clamping tools with extra-large clamping jaws. This allows the products to be tested with maximum force without damaging the samples.
With textile materials, it is often difficult to clamp the sample securely and smoothly. We have developed a special solution for this with the sample preparation desk and the feed rail, which simplifies the work process. This saves you time and increases safety for the tester.
For the testing of geo-textiles, we have developed
Clamping grips with special contact surfaces
so that the products can also be optimally tested here.
Single-sided specimen grips for testing textiles:
Double-sided specimen grips for testing textiles:
Versions:
- Special hydraulic power packs for various gripping techniques
- mechanical thread tensioning roller for belts and straps (with and without pretension option and interlock)
- Load reduction curve
Load reduction curve:
What makes this method special is its ability to test textiles such as belts and straps optimally. The gripping areas are loaded and the maximum force is applied to the desired test point. The risk of jaw cracks is greatly reduced and you can achieve optimal and consistent test results.
Steel wires, thin metal sheets, carbon and glass fibers and composites can also be tested with the load reduction curve.
